Broadcast Strategy

A successful campaign isn't measured by how many people you targeted — it's measured by how many responded and engaged. This guide gives you a practical strategy for effective, safe WhatsApp campaigns.

What Makes a Campaign Succeed

Right audience + Right message + Right time = High results

Step 1 — Define Your Audience Precisely

Don't send to all contacts at once.

Use the filters on the Contacts page to target the right audience for each campaign:

Campaign TypeIdeal Audience
Seasonal offerPurchased within the last 6 months
New productShowed interest in similar products
Re-engagementNo contact in 90+ days
VIPContacts tagged "VIP"

Step 2 — Create the Campaign

  1. Click Mass Messaging in the left sidebar

Broadcast page

  1. Click Create Campaign
  2. Fill in:
    • Campaign name (for future reference)
    • Instance to send from
    • Audience (from a list or by filter)
    • Message text (with variables)
    • Send time (now or scheduled)

Step 3 — Schedule Strategically

Best Times to Send

Based on global WhatsApp analytics:

DayBest Time
Sunday – Thursday10 AM – 12 PM, or 7 – 9 PM
Friday11 AM – 1 PM
Saturday11 AM – 2 PM

Tip: Check your past campaign stats to find the best time window for your specific audience.

Step 4 — Drip Sending

Don't send 5,000 messages in 5 minutes.

  • Send 100 messages per hour
  • Or spread sends over 3 days
  • The platform handles this automatically when you set a time gap between messages

Step 5 — Monitor Analytics

After sending, track:

MetricWhat It Means
Delivery rate% of messages that reached the device
Read rate% of messages that were read (✓✓)
Reply rate% who replied to the message
Block rate% who reported you — must stay below 0.5%

When to Retarget

Send a follow-up campaign 5–7 days later to contacts who:

  • Received the message but didn't reply
  • Replied but didn't take action

The second message must be different from the first — never repeat it verbatim.

Campaign Strategy by Goal

Goal: Increase Sales

  1. First campaign: Product announcement + image + link
  2. After 3 days: Ask about interest + offer a consultation
  3. After 7 days: Time-limited discount for the undecided

Goal: Re-engage Old Customers

  1. Message: "We miss you!" + special comeback offer
  2. Follow-up: Share useful content related to their interests

Goal: Onboard New Customers

  1. First message (at signup): Welcome + guide links
  2. After 3 days: Need help? + direct links

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Sending to stale lists: validate numbers before every campaign
  • One message for all segments: personalise the message for each group
  • Ignoring replies: a successful campaign generates conversations — make sure you have a team ready to respond
  • Not tracking results: without analytics you can't improve
